Ephesians 5:15-17 So, then, be careful how you live. Do not be unwise but wise, making the best use of your time because the times are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord’s will is.
Today I wanted to talk about the importance of time management. Yeah this is a huge thing for me because honestly, I’m not good at it. When I worked at the group home with the girls in foster care they would call me Doug. Do you remember the dog from the movie UP? Well yes his name was Doug and they said I was just like him because everything drew my attention away or could side-track me. “Ooohhh squirrel.”
Yes, that is me. It takes me longer than most to get things accomplished because I will frequently get side tracked and forget what I’m doing. Since I am aware of this I have to make sure that I plan things out and leave room for the extra time I will need to get things accomplished. I also need to make sure that when I am doing something important that I have some background noise; either music, the dryer, or television going so that my brain can get in a rhythm.
In Ephesians it states that God does not want us to be unwise in use of our time. Why could that be? Before this it states be careful how you live. So, could it be that God is saying that how we use our time reflects how we show others what is important to us? I believe so. If you make time for God you show it by listening to what he says.
